How to Create Your RiseUP Elevation Challenge Fundraiser Page

How to Create Your RiseUP Elevation Challenge Fundraiser Page

You Registered. Now It Is Time to Tell Your Story.

Thank you to everyone who has already registered for the RiseUP Elevation Challenge!

Your next step is simple: create and personalize your individual Fundraiser page so your friends, family members, coworkers, and community can understand what you are doing and support your challenge.

Creating your page should take only a few minutes, and it does not need to be perfect. The examples in this guide are here to give you a starting point. You can copy them, shorten them, edit them, or personalize them so your page sounds like you.

Whether you are working toward 5,000 feet of elevation, completing 15 miles of distance, or setting an even higher personal goal, your Fundraiser page gives people a clear place to:

  • Learn why you joined the challenge
  • Understand your personal goal
  • Support your fundraising efforts
  • Follow your progress
  • Cheer you on throughout September
  • Share your page with others

The more personal and complete your page feels, the easier it will be for supporters to connect with your story.

Participants can join individually or create a team with coworkers, family members, friends, churches, gyms, clubs, neighborhoods, nonprofits, or community organizations. Each person also has the opportunity to turn their challenge into meaningful fundraising support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and neurodiversity.

Whether you are participating in Colorado Springs, Denver, elsewhere in Colorado, or from another state, the following strategies can help you reach more people, raise more support, and make every foot count.

Why Your Fundraiser Page Matters

Your Fundraiser page is often the first thing someone will see after receiving your link through an email, text message, social media post, or personal invitation.

A strong page helps answer several important questions:

  • Who are you?
  • How are you connected to RiseUP?
  • Why are you participating?
  • What elevation or distance goal are you working toward?
  • Why does RiseUP’s mission matter to you?
  • Why are you asking people to support your challenge?
  • How will their donation encourage you and support RiseUP’s work?

Your page does not need to contain a long or highly polished essay. It simply needs to feel genuine and help people understand why this challenge matters to you.

How to Find and Edit Your Page

After registering for the RiseUP Elevation Challenge, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your profile on the official registration website.
  2. Open your participant profile.
  3. Find the Fundraising section.
  4. Select Edit Fundraiser.
  5. Complete the available fields.
  6. Add your personal message and photo.
  7. Set your fundraising goal.
  8. Save your changes.
  9. Select Back to Fundraiser to review the public page.

You can return to this section later to make updates as your challenge progresses.

Step 1: Choose Your Individual Fundraiser Name

Your individual Fundraiser name appears at the top of your page. It can be as straightforward or creative as you would like.

The RiseUP guide suggests examples such as:

  • Your first and last name
  • My Elevation Challenge Fundraiser!
  • My Rise for Others!
  • Kelly’s 5,000-Foot Elevation Challenge!
  • My 15 Miles of Distance Challenge!

These examples can be copied or adapted to reflect your own personality and goal.

Additional Examples

  • Sara’s RiseUP Challenge
  • Tom’s September Elevation Goal
  • Rolling 15 Miles for RiseUP
  • Climbing for Community
  • Team [Name] Rises Together
  • My September Challenge for RiseUP

Choose a name that immediately tells visitors whose page they are viewing and what you are working toward.

Step 2: Write a Short Tagline

Your tagline is a brief statement that appears near the top of your page. Its purpose is to quickly explain what you are doing and encourage people to keep reading.

Examples from the RiseUP guide include:

  • My Elevation Challenge for Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities!
  • Let’s raise money for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities!
  • Support me as I trek 15 miles of distance this September!
  • Support me as I trek 5,000 feet of elevation this September!
  • Help me reach my goal of [insert goal]!

Additional Tagline Ideas

  • Every foot and every mile can make a difference.
  • Join me as I RiseUP for inclusion.
  • Help me move with purpose this September.
  • Support my challenge and the RiseUP community.
  • Together, we can make every step count.
  • Cheer me on as I climb, walk, run, stroll, or roll.

Keep this section concise. Your longer explanation will appear in your Personal Message.

Step 3: Set Your Fundraising Goal

Make sure you enter a specific fundraising goal for your page.

A visible goal helps supporters understand what you are trying to accomplish and shows how each contribution moves you closer.

Possible goals might include:

  • $250
  • $500
  • $1,000
  • $2,500
  • A team-wide fundraising goal
  • A specific number of individual donors

You can also break your goal into smaller amounts when sharing it.

For example:

My goal is to raise $500. Twenty donations of $25 would help me reach it.

Or:

I am working toward a $1,000 goal. Every donation, regardless of size, helps me move closer.

The RiseUP instruction guide also reminds participants to set their Fundraiser goal and select the appropriate options shown at the top of the Fundraiser setup area.

Before saving your page, review each option carefully and confirm that the settings match how you want your page to appear.

Step 4: Create a Custom Fundraiser URL

A custom URL makes your page easier to recognize, remember, and share.

The guide provides simple examples such as:

  • KellyDaniels
  • KellysPage
  • GoKellyGo

Your custom URL could include:

  • Your name
  • Your team name
  • Your challenge goal
  • A simple encouraging phrase

Example Ideas

  • SaraRises
  • TeamRiseTogether
  • TomClimbs5000
  • Roll15WithKelly
  • RiseWithDonna
  • GoTeamRiseUP

Keep it short, readable, and easy to type. Avoid complicated punctuation or a long sequence of words whenever possible.

Step 5: Add a Personal Message Heading

Your Personal Message heading introduces the main story on your Fundraiser page.

The RiseUP guide includes examples such as:

  • Let’s RiseUP for Individuals with IDD!
  • Donate to My Cause!
  • I’m Climbing 5,000 Feet in September. Help Me Get There!
  • Cheer Me On as I Walk, Run, Hike, Stroll, or Roll 15 Miles This September!
  • Join Me for the Challenge!
  • Help Me RiseUP for RiseUP!

Additional Heading Ideas

  • Why I Am Taking the Elevation Challenge
  • Help Me Make Every Foot Count
  • Join Me as I Move With Purpose
  • Support My September Challenge
  • Together, We Can Rise Higher
  • Help Me Reach My Elevation or Distance Goal

The heading should encourage visitors to read your complete Personal Message.

Step 6: Write Your Personal Message

Your Personal Message is the main note people will read when they visit your page.

It should briefly tell them:

  • Who you are
  • How you are connected to RiseUP
  • Why you are taking the Elevation Challenge
  • What goal you are working toward
  • Why RiseUP’s mission matters to you
  • Why you are asking them to donate or share your page

The RiseUP guide recommends using those questions to shape your message and explain how donations will encourage you while helping RiseUP continue its work.

Questions to Help You Begin

You do not have to answer every question. Choose the ones that best reflect your story.

Who are you?

Introduce yourself and briefly explain your relationship with RiseUP.

Why do you believe in RiseUP?

Share why RiseUP’s mission, programs, people, or values are meaningful to you.

Why are you taking the Elevation Challenge?

Explain what motivated you to register and what you hope to accomplish.

What goal are you working toward?

Mention your elevation, distance, and fundraising goals.

Why do you want people to support your challenge?

Tell visitors how their donation, share, or encouragement will help.

Sample Personal Message: 5,000-Foot Elevation Goal

Hi, I’m [Name], and I’m proud to be part of the RiseUP community.

I have seen how meaningful RiseUP’s work is for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and neurodiversity. Being connected to this mission is important to me, and I am excited to take that commitment one step further by participating in the RiseUP Elevation Challenge this September.

My goal is to gain 5,000 feet of elevation throughout the month, and I am inviting you to support me along the way.

Every step represents the strength, potential, and accomplishments of the individuals RiseUP serves. Your support will motivate me to keep climbing while helping RiseUP continue providing meaningful programs and services.

Please consider making a donation, sharing my page, and cheering me on as I work toward my elevation and fundraising goals!

Sample Personal Message: 15-Mile Distance Goal

Hi, I’m [Name], and I am taking on the RiseUP Elevation Challenge because I believe in building communities where people of all abilities can thrive.

This September, I am working toward 15 miles of distance by walking, running, hiking, strolling, rolling, or moving in the way that works best for me.

I am also raising funds to support RiseUP’s work with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and neurodiversity.

I would be grateful for your support as I take on this challenge. Every donation will help motivate me, and every share will help introduce more people to RiseUP’s mission.

Please consider donating, sharing my page, or joining me for part of the journey. Together, we can RiseUP!

Sample Personal Message: Higher Elevation Goal

Participants are also welcome to challenge themselves beyond 5,000 feet.

Hi, I’m [Name], and I’m taking on the RiseUP Elevation Challenge because RiseUP’s mission is something I am proud to support.

This September, I am aiming to climb 10,000 feet. It is a meaningful personal goal that will require consistency, effort, and determination.

I am asking for your support as I take on the challenge. Every donation will help fuel my motivation while supporting the programs and services that make a difference in the lives of children, adults, and families.

Please consider sponsoring my climb and helping me reach both my elevation and fundraising goals. Together, we can RiseUP!

Short Personal Message Options

A shorter message is completely acceptable. Your story does not need to be long to be meaningful.

Short Sample 1

This September, I am participating in the RiseUP Elevation Challenge to raise support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and neurodiversity. Please consider donating, sharing my page, and cheering me on!

Short Sample 2

I am working toward 5,000 feet of elevation this September while raising funds for RiseUP. Every donation gives me more motivation to reach my goal and helps support an important mission.

Short Sample 3

I will be hiking throughout Colorado during September with a goal of gaining 5,000 feet of elevation. Please support my challenge and help RiseUP continue serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and neurodiversity.

Step 7: Add a Profile Photo

Add a clear, friendly photo that helps visitors recognize you and connect with your page.

The RiseUP guide encourages participants to add a photo of themselves hiking or simply looking their best.

Possible images include:

  • A hiking or walking photo
  • A photo from a Colorado trail
  • A clear headshot
  • A team photo
  • A workplace or community group photo
  • A picture connected to your personal reason for participating
  • A photo of you using the movement method you selected

The photo does not need to be professionally taken. Choose something authentic, positive, and easy to see.

Step 8: Add a Slideshow

After completing your Fundraiser information and Personal Message, return to your public page by selecting Back to Fundraiser.

From there, the platform will allow you to create a slideshow.

Your slideshow could include:

  • Hiking or trail photos
  • Training updates
  • Team pictures
  • Photos from RiseUP activities
  • Images showing why the mission matters to you
  • Progress milestones
  • Community or workplace participation
  • Your Elevation Challenge shirt
  • Photos from your walks, rolls, strolls, runs, or climbs

A slideshow can make your page feel more complete and give supporters a visual way to follow your journey.

Step 9: Preview Your Page

Before sharing your link, review the page as a visitor would see it.

Check that:

  • Your Fundraiser name is correct
  • Your tagline is easy to understand
  • Your fundraising goal is visible
  • Your custom URL works
  • Your Personal Message is complete
  • Your movement goal is accurate
  • Your photo displays correctly
  • Your slideshow is working
• Your donation and sharing options are visible
  • There are no spelling errors or unfinished placeholders

Your page does not have to be perfect. It only needs to be accurate, personal, and ready to share.

Step 10: Begin Sharing Your Fundraiser

Once your page is complete, start by sharing it directly with the people most likely to support you.

Consider reaching out to:

  • Family members
  • Friends
  • Coworkers
  • Neighbors
  • RiseUP team members
  • Community organizations
  • Church or faith communities
  • Gym or fitness groups
  • Local businesses

You can share your page through:

  • Email
  • Text messages

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Workplace communications
  • Group chats
  • Community newsletters

Sample Message for Sharing Your Page

Hi! I registered for the RiseUP Elevation Challenge and created my personal Fundraiser page.

Throughout September, I will be working toward [insert elevation or distance goal] while raising support for RiseUP.

I would be grateful if you would visit my page, support my fundraising goal, or share the link with someone who may want to get involved.

Here is my Fundraiser page: [Insert link]

Thank you for helping me RiseUP for something greater!

Continue Sharing Your Progress

Do not share your page only once.

Throughout the challenge, post updates when you:

  • Complete your first walk, hike, run, roll, stroll, or climb
  • Reach an elevation or distance milestone
  • Receive your first donation
  • Reach 25%, 50%, or 75% of your fundraising goal
  • Welcome a new team member
  • Complete a difficult activity
  • Add new photos to your slideshow
  • Get close to completing your challenge

Progress updates keep your supporters involved and remind people who intended to donate but may not have done so yet.

Fundraising Rewards and Prizes

The more support you raise, the more challenge rewards and prize opportunities you may be eligible to receive.

These can include items such as:

  • A RiseUP Elevation Challenge T-shirt
  • A challenge hoodie
  • A hydration or CamelBak-style pack
  • Entries into prize drawings
  • Other fundraising incentives

Participants should review the official Elevation Challenge page for the current fundraising levels, eligibility requirements, and prize information.

The rewards make the experience even more exciting, but the greatest impact comes from helping RiseUP continue its mission and services.

Share Your Page With the RiseUP Team

RiseUP staff and community members are encouraged to share their Fundraiser pages with one another.

Doing so gives everyone an opportunity to:

  • Cheer each other on
  • Discover what others are doing
  • Exchange fundraising ideas
  • Celebrate progress
  • Support team members
  • Build momentum throughout September

This is a community challenge. Sharing your page with the RiseUP team helps everyone feel connected as we work toward our individual and collective goals.

Your Page Does Not Have to Be Perfect

The most important thing is to begin.

Start with:

  1. Your Fundraiser name
  2. A short tagline
  3. Your fundraising goal
  4. Your custom URL
  5. Your Personal Message heading
  6. A brief personal story
  7. Your elevation or distance goal
  8. A profile photo
  9. A few slideshow images

You can continue editing and improving your page as the challenge progresses.

Take a few minutes today to log in, select Edit Fundraiser, personalize your page, and start sharing it with your community.

Every page shared can introduce someone new to RiseUP. Every contribution can strengthen the impact of the Elevation Challenge. Every encouraging message can motivate a participant to keep moving.

Thank you for helping us lead the way.

Together, we RiseUP.
