In-Home Training and Family Support
The
primary goal of In-Home Training is to help families
when a parent or a child has a developmental disability. This is accomplished through the use of intensive
intervention and support. Roundup provides staff who
work one on one with the family in their home, training
family members in the use of proven techniques to modify
behaviors and teach new skills.
We help with parenting skills, setting limits and
boundaries, money management, functional academics, and
self-advocacy. We help children with behavior
management, self-help, social skills, communication,
community outreach, and safety skills. Our program
focuses on the strengths of the family to allow children
to stay with their family by preventing out of home
placement.
What We Do:
-
Assess the needs of the family facing
developmental disabilities.
-
Design individual programs to meet
the needs of the family.
-
Provide support and training in the
family home.
-
Coordinate and share programs and
data with schools and other service providers.
-
Write monthly reviews of the family's
progress.
-
Refer family members to other
resources available in their community.
Role of Families:
-
Be present in the home during
training sessions.
-
Actively participate in training and
learn to run programs and analyze effectiveness.
-
Offer significant input into the
development of programs and the treatment plan.
-
Evaluate the usefulness of all
resources provided.
Please remember that effective and
meaningful change may take several months. With consistency in all
aspects of the family's life there is increased opportunity for
success.
